Canoes

A canoe needs no intricately designed deck to achieve breathtaking beauty.

The canoe derives it's personality from a gentle curving hull and the trim that brings the whole piece together.

Three trim packages are available:

Clean: is the simplest package.  It consists of the most straight forward, no nonsense trim possible.  The clean package also happens to be the most cost effective.

Median: upgrades the decks portage yolk, and gunnels to be the best performing and the lightest.

Ultimate: Is the preeminent trim package that upgrades every piece of wood .  This includes large beautiful decks, intricate gunnels, and seats that are a true sculpture in their own right.

Exotics:  These water craft are customarily crafted in cedar and redwood as a weight savings; however, any boat can be made from any wood obtainable.  A boat sculpted from mahogany, walnut, or any exotic wood would enjoy a museum grade appearance that would increase it's rarity and value exponentially.

Here is an example:

17' long,    32" wide,    70 pounds

Staple less construction,    asymmetric hull design,    clean trim package.

$5,000-$10,000

This boat is a Freedom 17. It features an asymmetric hull design that reaches it's widest point 6" past the center.  This coupled with a more rounded bottom makes the fastest canoe that I have ever personally paddled.  The overall design leaves a nice gunnel angle that allows you to paddle at a very efficient angle.  All of this comes together to make one terrific design.

This Freedom 17 is fashioned from redwood with a cedar stripe.  The cedar stripe was taken from one board that was chosen for the fade effect from dark to light.  The strips were taken sequentially as they came out of the log to repeat grain patterns.  This technique is especially effective at achieving a consistent fade from front to back.  The boat shown exhibits a "Clean" trim package made from a Pumpkin Ash that was harvested from my personal property.  The seats, decks, and thwarts are Curly Ash which has a striking iridescent grain pattern.

Wall mounting fixtures are available.
